"Unnatural Exposure" is a crime thriller novel by American author Patricia Cornwell. The book is the eighth in Cornwell's popular "Kay Scarpetta" series, which features the fictional character Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner and forensic pathologist.
In "Unnatural Exposure," Scarpetta investigates a series of murders that appear to be linked to an outbreak of smallpox in Virginia. The killer is using a deadly virus to carry out the murders, and Scarpetta must use her forensic skills to track down the perpetrator before more people are killed.
As Scarpetta delves deeper into the case, she discovers that the killer is someone with access to the smallpox virus, and that they are using it to exact revenge on those they believe have wronged them. Scarpetta must use all of her knowledge and resources to track down the killer before they can strike again.
"Unnatural Exposure" is known for its detailed descriptions of forensic science and the investigative process, as well as its fast-paced plot and complex characters. It was well-received by both readers and critics and is considered a classic in the crime thriller genre.
